Rules for High Points and Year End Awards 2008
We have adopted a similar set of rules to FQHA's rules to keep it simple since many of our members competing for points also compete for FQHA points. Points are posted within 45 days following the show. Here are our rules:
* The points are earned by the horse, not the rider.
* The horse's owner must be a member of ECQHA for the horse to earn points in a class. This goes as well for Limited Riders and Novice Riders who are allowed by AQHA to show another person's horse. In case of an ownership change mid-year between two members, the owner on record at the final show of the year will be given the award.
* The owner's membership must be current before the show in which the horse may earn points.
* The horse must be shown in a particular class in at least two shows to qualify for a Year End Award.
*Select: If there are not enough exhibitors for points in a Select class, your points in the corresponding Amateur class will be counted for Select.
* Points are calculated based on the number of entries/riders in a class. If there are five riders, first place earns five points, fourth place earns four points, all of the way down. There are no extra points given for halter Grands and Reserves.
*Awards are given to the owner of the horse, not the rider, if different.
